Can't send new tasks to JIRA - Assignees
Steve Posts 1

Hi,
I have the same problem. When the global settings is set to require assignment on the issue, the connector will not create the issue. When the global setting is set to not require the assignment, the connector first creates the issue without an assignment, and then on the second send to JIRA, the connector will update the assignee.
My organization requires that JIRA issues are assigned when created. I put in a support request for this, but I have not received an answer. Does anyone know of a way to create issues from MS projects into JIRA when the global settings requires assignment?

Error not updating the Actual Work from subtasks
soumyo Posts 1
|
My intent is to maintain subtasks in JIRA and aggregate the time worked (logged) in JIRA on the subtasks up to the parent task and get the information back into MS Project via "Update from JIRA" functionality of the Connector. I do not want to import the subtasks into MS Project but the parent tasks are in both MS Project and JIRA (and they have been linked via the Connector). When I execute "Update from JIRA", the Duration column in MS Project for the parent tasks gets correctly updated with the aggregate durations (sum of remaining estimates + time spent) of the corresponding subtasks in JIRA. But, the Actual Work (or Actual Duration) columns do not get updated from JIRA. I was expecting that they will get updated with the aggregate values of the logged times from the subtasks and consequently the % Work Complete in MS Project will also get updated.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi I am getting this issue for all new tasks. This is a problem as our company does not allow that there are unassigned issues in jira. (I am not allowed to change the setting).
The strange thing is I was able to create issues in Jira for 1/2 a day using the connector then it failed to work.

Setting task start date from custom date field?

Hello,
Our JIRA workflow has a "Start Date" custom date field indicating the scheduled start of work. I'd like to set the Project task start date to the date in this field when importing issues into Project. Is this possible?

Error in importing data from some projects
jay Posts 1

Hi: We are evaluating "the connector". So far we are happy with the features. The only problem we are unable to resolve is the following.
1. We are able to export and sync issues with JIRA without any problem. 2. We are able to import issues from projects which has two or three issues. 3. However "the connector" is failing to import issues when issues are imported from a project which has about 25 issues. There is no detailed error message that would help us to resolve this issue. The attached screenshot contains the generic error messages we are getting when the import fails.
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. If you like to know more information about this failure, please let me know. Thanks, Jay

Error logging in

I've have just installed the ms project plugin (without the extension web services) but am having and error logging in, I receive this error:
The content type text/plain; charset=UTF-8 of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8). If using a custom encoder, be sure that the IsContentTypeSupported method is implemented properly. The first 472 bytes of the response were:
See attached screenshot for full message.
Looks like the web service reply is correct (a session token is in the body of the SOAP message) but the content type of the response is being set to text/plain, whereas the plugin is expecting text/xml.
To note: if i supply incorrect credentials i get back a correct invalid details message.

Support for the custom field type of "folksonomy"
soliphant Posts 4

Hi,
The Connector used to support this field without complaining about it. In fact it will will transfer data to Jira to this field type correctly even though it complains about the unsupported field type. However, the task editor will not allow this field to have any data in it if I want to move to another field in the editor.
This field type provides the ability for Jira to use tags on issues. Click on the tag in Jira and all issues in the project that have the tag are selected in the issue navigator. I use this field heavily and would like to support it from MS Project as well. I think all that has to happen is for The Connector to treat it as if it were text field. Version 1.2 of The Connector didn't even complain about the field type and the exchange of data worked perfectly.
Thanks, Steve

Is there an up to date version of the documentation. I noticed that the current version available for download says it is version 1.3 but it has version 1.2 menus and doesn't talk about the new options on many of the screens. This is the case at least through page 43.
Thanks, Steve

Tasks don't synchronize correctly
zbynec Posts 1

Hello,
I'm trying to import tasks from JIRA to MS Project with your demo connector. I've set the MS Project add-on to map the JIRA due date to Task Finish Date, the JIRA estimate time to Task Work, JIRA spent time to Task Actual Work and the date of first work log entry to Task Start Time. Now, when I try to import a task that has first work log entry at 4.Nov.2009, due date at 23.Nov.2009, estimete time is 3 days and time spent is 2 days, i'm still getting this result in MS Project: Duration: 13 days (it's OK), start and finish date are fine as well, but Task Work is 312 hours, Actual Work is 0 and Resource Units is 300%.
What I want to achieve is to see when the the work started (date of first work log entry), whe the work is supposed to be finished (due date), time planed to finish the work (estimate time) and time usage (spend time). How do I have to set up the connector to force it to do this job for me?
I'm using JIRA 3.13.3 (Czech language), MS Project 2007 (English), The Connector 1.3 demo. All is running under windows xp (English). Working day is set to 8 hours and working week has 5 days on both sides. Extended web service is installed in JIRA and enabled in MS Project add-on. Custom date format mapping is enabled and seems to be working fine.
Thank You very much. Zbynek

Hi guys! I have old 3.13 jira version! Can I get build that can support my jira version? Maybe somebody has it in own archive? It's really critical for me, because all other connectors that I've used are bs!

Import Single Item from Jira

Another way is to add a new line in the project plan, then set the JIRA ticket number manually in the "JIRA Issue ID" column (you might have to add it) and the update the line. This will get the rest of the data from JIRA.

Error trying to send a new task to JIRA
Oleg Moroz Posts 1

I'm using the trial version of The Connector Plug-in 1.3 Build 3549 (MS Project 2003 SP1) with JIRA Services for The Connector 1.3 on the server side (JIRA Enterprise 3.13.4).
When trying to send a new task to JIRA the following error message appears (see attachment):
Send To JIRA: ServiceManager.CreateTask Custom field type has not been specified for field customfield_40160 3 Task [...]
The customfield_40160 is a scoped field that is used for two issue types (not Task) in the different JIRA project from the one I'm trying to put the task to. It is not included in the field mapping in The Connector.

Field Type Error in Issue Editor

Hi. I'm using trial version of The Connector 1.3 with Microsoft project professional 2003(Japanese version) and JIRA 3.13.5(setting for Japanese language).
When I open the Issue Editor and click "Custom Field" tab, the error message "This is an unknown/unsupported custom field type." is shown in all custom fields.
How can I resolve this error message? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks!
