Version 1.2
Advanced Import Utility
The next release of The Connector will have a revamped import utility which will provide a number of new features and enhancents.
Importing will be more flexible and streamlined for quick and easy use. These enhancements will include:
- Saved Profiles - Save your profiles for future use. Once you configure all the options as you need them, save the
profile for later use. Simply select the saved profile and press the "Import" button to reuse. Unlimited profiles can be configured for
different importing needs.
- Sub-Task Importing - Importing will support a variety of sub-task import functionality. Import the parent
issues along with all of the children issues directly out of JIRA. Use the rollup mode to roll up all sub-tasks of
an issues and display only the parent task in your Microsoft Project plan.
- Multiple Project Importing - Import tasks from multiple projects at one time. Using the multi-select list, you
can pick as many projects as you wish to import from.
- Import Grouping and Sorting - The Connector will now allow you to sort and group imported issues. A variety of
sorting and grouping options will be provided. For example, you can group the issues by "Issue Priority" and sort them by their duration.
- Importing Using JIRA Filters - Import tasks by using a preconfigured JIRA filter. This allows more complex and optimized
queries to be created and used for importing. This can reduce the number of issues returned to The Connector speeding up the import
process.
- Insertion Point Importing - Previously, you could either append newly imported issues or clear the existing plan. Now you
will be able to select an insertion point and import new issues into that insertion point of the Microsoft Project plan.
- Auto-Merging Importing - Using the auto-merging feature, you can import and have tasks automatically grouped under
their appropriate project. This is useful in complicated project plans that have issues from multiple JIRA projects. Import from multiple
projects and any new issues will get appended under their appropriate heading.
- Filtering by Resolutions - Restrict imported issues by on their resolution type. Previously, you could only
restrict of status, priority and type.

Custom Field Mapping
The Connector will now allow mapping of values in JIRA custom fields. For example, if you have a custom field in
JIRA called "Ready To Update", you can import that value and show it in the Microsoft Project task list as a column of
data. Setting that value in Microsoft Project will allow you push those changes back to JIRA. You can assign the custom
field to any of Microsoft Projects 30 custom field locations and have visibility of that data from you project task list.
Support for Windows Large Fonts
When using The Connector is large font mode of Microsoft Windows, certain buttons and text values were clipped off in earlier versions. Version
1.2 of The Connector will correct those issues and support running Microsoft Windows in Large Fonts mode.
Master / Slave Issues
The Connector will support a master/slave concept for linking a Microsoft Project task to two different issue IDs in different JIRA projects.
This functionality can be useful if you wish to make a change to an issue through Microsoft Project and "publish" that change to two
issues. Perhaps one that the development team works from and one that business users view. Only one, the maste issue, will be used for
updating the values in Microsoft Project, but both will get updated when the Microsoft Project data is sent to JIRA.
Sub-Task Support
A variety of sub-task support will be provided in version 1.2 of The Connector. The import utility will allow importing of
issues and sub-issues into Microsoft Project retaining the parent/child relationship. Also, if you create a sub-task through
Microsoft Project, that task can be sent to JIRA and positioned under the correct parent issue. NOTE: JIRA only currently supports
one level of sub-tasks so this will be a restriction through The Connector as well.
Version and Component Description in Microsoft Project Task List
The version and component descriptions will be available as a read only version through the Microsoft Project task list. In version 1.1,
that information was displayed as a numeric value (which was used to internally track the correct item). The internal tracking values
will still be necessary and available, but you will also be able to have a readable representation of that same data.
We are always looking for ways to improve The Connector and make it more usable. We welcome any feedback on features and functionality that
would make it more useful.

A more flexible and powerful mapping capability is available to tell The Connector how and where to store JIRA values
Map JIRA custom fields to Microsoft Project fields. NOTE: You will be limited to some combination of a maximum of 30 mappings as this is all Microsoft Project can support.
